What condenser coil to replace the original piece of this Bryant SYSTEM?

This is the outside condenser coil for air conditioner portion of the Bryant, Plus 95s, Evolution split system 16 seer Puron unit (original part) of the Duel Fuel Hybrid AC/Heat Pump manufactured in 2009 and installed to us by 2010. The condenser has never been replaced BUT now this leaking condenser requires complete replacement.
This is the original system and includes: heat pump, gas furnace, evaporator coil, and control (thermostat) to auto select the most economical fuel source based on feedback data thru the control (thermostat).
This repair is going thru a Home Warranty using a locally contracted rep. The1st replacement unit ordered could not be physically connected to the thermostat control due to their connecting 'end' incompatibility. Now a recommendation is in progress (maybe) and must be made by the contractor -to the Home warranty company- and the condenser coil needed (?) will be selected by the Home Warranty.
In order to prevent another delay by either party involved, I just need to know what replacement condensing units are known to be compatible and which would actually be professional recommended to replace this integral and interactive part of this entire hybrid system. And is this system still efficient enough for anyone to continue to make costly repairs to it -piece by piece?
I do know the model # and serial #'s of most of the system components if it would help. Just ask me if so.
Can anyone help answer this or perhaps tell me who to contact that might know how to help find the answer?
In the meantime there is no a/c...and its end of July in KY!!

Home warranty companies have an extremely poor reputation, for doing things like your experiencing.

Thank You for your advise..I agree I could get their low cash out option and pay the difference to get it repaired BUT - unless they want to do something that is not professionally recommended I will stand to save a lot of $ -hence the reason for the Home Warranty. If i can know what piece(s) are legitimately compatible for this repair then i can hold them accountable too.
I will be selling this home in a few years and I do not want to compromise the integrity of this system so I want to do the best within my budget

What condenser coil to replace the original piece of this Bryant System

Yes it was originally Bristol 2 stage compressor. The compressor failed in 2016 and was replaced with Copeland Scroll 2 stage by HW.
This event I was told there was a leak in the condensing coil and compressor and it was not pumping freon. And that proper correction of the problem would be replacement. They attempted installation of what HW approved -Payne, model# PH14NB036000, 14 seer, 3 ton.
We have had some smooth repairs with contractors used by HW and also others that while nice people, were not so smooth or knowledgable. Have been using HW since 2014 and in my experience I DO KNOW it can be a huge hassle to deal with them. And the process to wait for repairs to HVAC in extreme temps is very distressing.
Like many other professions and employers, the experienced people who do the actual frontline work to help others are not appreciated or paid appropriately. It can create work apathy and dissatisfaction for the employee and poor outcomes for the end customer. But we know that there is profit made -often shared first from the top down. Insurance for health Care is same structure. We must have it for catastrophic financial wipe-outs. Id prefer to pay for services without paying the middle man to muddle and minimize project management just to make their profit. Wish things were different too.

FAQs

Should I replace the evaporator coil or the whole system? ›

Replacing just the evaporator coil can lead to problems. A common rule of thumb in the industry is if your AC unit is over 8 years old, it may be more beneficial to replace the entire unit rather than a single component.

Can you replace just the condenser coil? ›

Replacing the ac unit condenser coil is generally less expensive than purchasing and installing a new unit. Depending on the unit, it may be a small fraction of the cost of a new unit.

How do I know if my evaporator coil needs to be replaced? ›

Warm Air

Since your evaporator coil evaporates the heat in your home's air, damage to it can make it so your HVAC unit starts blowing warm air. Without the coil working properly, your system won't remove the warm air in your home, leading your unit to struggle to cool your home.

What is the cost of replacing a coil in a AC unit? ›

Replacement costs for an AC evaporator coil range between $550 and $2,500. The two main costs are the coil, $400 to $1,900, and the labor to replace it, $150 to $600.

What is the life expectancy of an evaporator coil? ›

On average, an evaporator coil in a commercial HVAC unit can last anywhere from 10-15 years. It's important to note that this is a general estimate and that the actual lifespan of an evaporator coil can vary dramatically. However, with regular maintenance and proper usage, the coil can last even longer.

Should I replace all coils if one is bad? ›

In a car, is it necessary to change all ignition coil plugs when one is not working? No it is not necessary. But keep in mind, if they are all about the same age, the others could fail at any time, or they could last years. Make sure you at least check the spark plugs if not replace them.

Is a condenser coil the same as an evaporator coil? ›

On the flip side, the condenser coil is the counterpart to the evaporator coil, and it sits in the outdoor condenser unit of your air conditioner. While the evaporator coil cools indoor air, the condenser coil deals with the heat absorbed from inside your home.

  1. Loud and abnormal noises coming from the unit.
  2. Significantly reduced cooling capability from the unit.
  3. The unit is leaking a noticeable amount of fluid past the typical amount of condensation.

Replacing the evaporator coil on a central air conditioner costs $600–$2,000. The coil itself costs $180–$1,600, and professional installation adds another $400–$1,000. Here are the major factors that determine the total cost of the project. Brand: Some air conditioner brands are more high-end than others.

What makes an evaporator coil go bad? ›

Water travels through the coil at 2-5 feet every second, making erosion an enormous part of coil failure, regardless of how well-maintained it is. Erosion is always there, whether you realize it or not. Water/steam treatment and the corrosive effects of bad steam/water can all be causes of coil failure over time.

How do I know if my evaporator coil is dirty? ›

If you notice frost or ice buildup on your evaporator coil during operation, it's a sign that the coil is dirty and needs to be cleaned. This happens because the dirt and debris on the coil prevent heat from being absorbed properly, causing the refrigerant to become too cold.

Does homeowners insurance cover replacement AC coil? ›

Homeowners insurance policies don't typically cover normal wear-and-tear. If your AC unit fails due to a broken fan or a frozen evaporator coil, it will be up to you to fix it. The best way to avoid paying for wear-and-tear expenses is by keeping your system well-maintained over time.

Can I replace an evaporator coil myself? ›

Not only is replacing the evaporator coil a lengthy job, the cooling agent will need to be disposed of correctly without it leaking into the environment as this can lead to all sorts of fines. It is always better to contact a professional if you are having problems with your air conditioning.

Should I replace the evaporator coil or the whole unit? ›

While it may seem cheaper to replace just the evaporator coil, there are many cases where it's better to replace the entire unit. The main reason for this is that most air conditioner systems have two coils that work together. The first is the inside coil—the evaporator that cools the air down.

Is it worth replacing an evaporator coil in a car? ›

That said, when it starts nearing its 8th birthday, replacing just the broken evaporator coil can be a lot like putting a brand new engine into a dying car. It's not worth the money. Plus, replacing the evaporator coil means you'll have a new one working alongside a near-death condenser coil.

Is it worth replacing the coil of an AC unit? ›

A faulty evaporator coil can lead to uncomfortable temperatures, moisture buildup and possibly damage, and a higher-than-normal electricity bill. Conclusion: it's better to fix the thing than to deal with the problems in the long run.

If you have an old AC condenser unit nearing the end of its life, it may make more sense to replace the entire unit, even if there's a single broken part.

What happens when evaporator coil goes bad? ›

Your air conditioner would be in serious trouble if these coils should ever malfunction or become defective. If your air conditioner is turning on and off frequently, this is a sign of malfunctioning evaporator coils. Other ordinary signs of damaged coils include strange noises, warm air, and refrigerant leaks.
