Easter Blossom Sugar Cookies ~ Soft, chewy cookies, topped with a chocolate candy. What cookie could be better than that? These cookies are a delicious treat and perfect for Easter.
Can you believe Easter is only weeks away? Where has the time gone? I feel like it was just Christmas and here we are. Already the end of March, Spring and Easter. My goodness. It’s crazy how fast time flies by.
I remember the kids just starting school and thinking that we had 9 months to go and now we are down to 2 1/2 months.
With Easter only weeks away and spring break next week, I wanted to make some cookies for the kids teachers. Teachers are so under appreciated, I feel. They work so hard and don’t get the thanks they should, don’t-cha think?
With my son being in the six8th grade, I couldn’t exactly buy every teacher a $25 gift card, so I thought Easter Blossom Sugar Cookies would be the perfect fit. I hope all the teachers loved them! Actually I hope my son gave them to his teachers instead of eating them all. 😉
I wanted these Easter Blossom Sugar Cookies to be Easter themed but not overly done up. I wanted something cutesy and simple.
Remember, I’m all about the simple, easy recipes over here! This Easter Blossom Sugar Cookie recipe is so good. They come together quickly and taste great with or without the Hersey Kiss Candy. They’re buttery with those crunchy edges I love and taste just how a sugar cookie should. The chocolate kiss givesthe cookie some Umph and sweetness.
The kids went nuts for these and ate about 3 before I had to tell them to slow down or I wouldn’t have enough for their teachers. Silly kids!
On a side note, if you can’t find the colored sugar, you can go with out it or roll them in granulated sugar. Really anything works for these cookies.

Ingredients
- 36 Hersey Kisses
- 1 stick, 1/2 cup butter, softened
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 egg
- 1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/4 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 2 tablespoons milk
- Pink, yellow, blue & purple sugar crystals
Instructions
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Remove wrappers from candies; set them aside.
Cream together the butter and sugar in a stand mixer, until light and fluffy. Add egg and vanilla, making sure both are completely incorporated.
In a small bowl add flour, baking soda and salt, whisking together to combine.
With your stand mixer on slow, add the flour mixture and milk. Alternating each and ending with the flour mixture. Ladle sides and bottom of bowl to make sure everything is blended together.
Shape dough into 1-inch balls. Roll dough in colored sugar crystals and place on baking sheet.
Bake 8-10 minutes, or until cookies are set. Remove from the oven and let them sit for 2 minutes on baking the baking sheet.
Press a Hersey kiss into the center of each cookie. Remove cookies from baking sheet to a wire rack and let cool completely.

Hi. I found your beautiful cookies via Pinterest. Is there an egg missing from the ingredients? The instructions say to add egg but I didn’t see it in the list. Maybe I missed it. Anyway, I’m making them right now and added one egg so I’m hoping it works! Thanks! Happy Easter!
Cyndi —Reply
Hi Amy! I am sorry for the incorrect ingredient list. Yes you add 1 egg. I am glad you did. Thank you and so sorry for the confusion. 😉 I hope you enojoy them and Happy Easter!!

Hi Jennifer! I’m so happy to hear you liked my Easter Blossom Sugar Cookies. This is the reason why I have this blog. I like to share my favorites with everyone. And don’t worry, you’re not the only one that would eat them all. I always have to send goodies to neighbors and friends cause I would snack all day. 🙂 Hope you try out some more recipes. Let me know if you have any questions.
Sara Perez —
Hi I tried making them and dough came out sticky. My daughters and I tried it twice and followed your recipe. 🙁 bummer what do you think happed
Cyndi —
Hi Sara! I’m sorry that they didn’t work out for you. I’m not sure what happened. Maybe try chilling the dough for 20 mins next time. I’ve had recipes (specifically molasses cookies) where they’re sticky and when I refrigerate the dough for a while I can roll them into balls. Sorry again and I hope you have a wonderful Easter. 😉

Will these cookies work if they are dyed a pastel color and have some frosting on top before the hershey kiss? I have to be careful how much sugar is in the sweets so I am making sugar free frosting and dough.
Cyndi —Reply
Hi Sarah, I’m not really sure if that way would work. I’m thinking dying the cookies would be fine and you could frost them. I’m just not sure the candy would stick to the frosting. I’ve only made them this way, sorry. I would love to know if you try your way and it works. Good luck! And thanks for stopping by. 🙂

Heather L Carmola —Reply
These look delicious! Do we leave them in a ball to bake them or pat them down into a cookie shape before baking? Thanks!
Cyndi —Reply
Hi Heather! You leave them in a ball and then they will flatten out in the oven. I’ve added a recipe video above the recipe if you’d like to see how I do it. 🙂

Hi! Do you see any issue with using a Cadbury egg in the middle instead of a Hershey kiss? I thought it might add to the color.
Cyndi —Reply
Hi Stephanie! I don’t see why not? They only issue I would see is the egg not melting enough to stick, but if you put them on about 5 mins after getting out of the oven, they should be fine. Please share with me if you end up doing that. I’d love to see them! You can share on my FB page or Instagram. I’m at My Kitchen Craze on both. Good luck and happy baking! 🙂
Stephanie —
Thanks so much for the fast response Cyndi! I plan on making them this weekend and will let you know how they turn out!
Stephanie —
Hi Cyndi! I made these this past weekend using Cadbury eggs in the center and they were a success! They looked and tasted great. I am not on Facebook or instagram or I would share a picture with you.

The dough was dry and crumbly. Rolled into balls and tried to get the dough to stick together. When they baked, they stayed in the ball shape and did not get flat. The cookies tasted like flour and were hard. I did put in an egg. Very disappointed in the Easter blossom sugar cookies. Wanted to take them in for teacher appreaction day, but I can’t serve these.

Hi Diane, I am so sorry the cookies didn’t turn out for you. Not sure what happened.

I made these for Valentine’s Day(used red, pink, and white sugar). I used Hershey Hugs instead. My teenage son inhaled them. He said that they’re is favourite sugar cookie now. I’m about to make some for him for Easter. I just have to run out to get some Hershey Hugs. Thanks for the recipe.Darcy —Reply
Do you think I can use food coloring in the dough for the pastel colors and roll in white sugar?
